Carol Coover-Clark, AIA, NCARB

 

President / Owner

Ms. Coover-Clark’s career as an architect, landscape architect, interior, and urban designer extends more than 25 years of professional service to both public and private sector clients.  She has led more than 300 design and construction management projects with construction costs of up to $300 million.  Since establishing Coover-Clark & Associates in 1987, Ms. Coover-Clark has focused on providing each client with hands-on principal involvement.  In 1989 the Denver office was established and has since completed a concentrated variety of architecture, landscape architecture, planning, and interiors projects throughout the United States.

Ms. Coover-Clark achieved national recognition serving three consecutive terms on the State Board of Directors for the American Institute of Architects and a National AIA Awards jury.  For six years, Carol served as the Architectural Advisor for the Capitol Advisory Committee, including Capitol Development Security Sub Committee, which adopted the new Security Master Plan.

Following through on her firm founding philosophy, Carol actively participates in every project Coover-Clark & Associates undertakes.  Her commitment to client focused project understanding is best illustrated by the significant number of repeat clients Coover-Clark & Associates maintains.

Dave Clark, AICP

 

Director of Planning

Mr. Clark has more than 25 years of planning and urban design experience in the public and private sectors. As Coover-Clark & Associates’ Director of Planning since 1991, Mr. Clark leads firm planning efforts for a wide range of project types including airports, rental car facility consolidations and university and municipal land use planning. His background includes comprehensive planning, facility planning, economic development, citizen participation strategies and land use development. Mr. Clark has developed design guidelines for public and private agencies and represented numerous clients before Planning Commissions, City Councils and other types of land use / development review.
 
Mr. Clark served as the Project Manager for a ground transportation center at Memphis International Airport and as Principal Planner and Project Manager for consolidated rental car facilities for Kansas City International Airport, Anchorage International Airport, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

Prior to joining Coover-Clark & Associates, Mr. Clark was the Director of Planning and Community Development for the City of Lakewood, Colorado and held the same position previously with the City of Norman, Oklahoma
.

B. Edward Balkin, AIA Assoc.

 

Principal / Director of Design

Mr. Balkin’s experience spans more than 25 years. His involvement includes architectural design, interior design, project management, graphic design, and planning. He has worked with Coover-Clark & Associates since 1995.

Mr. Balkin currently serves as Project Manager / Designer and has completed more than 25 projects since joining Coover-Clark. He serves as Director of Design for all aviation projects nationwide and currently leads firm efforts for a $60 million Ground Transportation Project at the Kansas City International Airport. His involvement with projects includes contract negotiation, project management, and the design of more than $250 million of construction.

Mr. Balkin’s current projects include an Army Aviation Support Facility for the Colorado Army National Guard, Kansas City International Airport and the City of Kansas City.
 
Mr. Balkin was the Director of Design for Luckman Partnership and later an Associate with Fentress Bradburn Architects prior to joining Coover-Clark. Mr. Balkin managed and designed such projects such as One DTC, Jefferson County Government Center and the Denver International Airport North Terminal Facility.
